Brian is the Griffin family dog and was found by Peter Griffin as a stray. While Brian exhibits some typical dog behaviors like eating garbage, licking himself, playing fetch, leaving dead birds on the porch, intensely fearing the vacuum cleaner and the dog whistle, and sleeps at the foot of the Griffin's bed. He also possesses various human-like qualities, such as the ability to speak English, drive a car, walk upright, go to the bar, and write papers. Brian is extremely strong witted and often has arguments with his best friend, Peter Griffin. He also has the ability to understand Stewie Griffin, the Griffins one year-old child, who he often find himself in trouble with.
